📍 Itinerary

  • Medellín → Guatapé: departures from the Olaya Herrera at 7:00 or 8:00 am; you land on the lake about 20 minutes later.
  • Guatapé → Medellín: the seaplane picks you up at the Luxe / The Brown dock at 7:30 or 8:30 am and lands at the Olaya Herrera.
  • On arrival: if you like, a boat takes you from the dock to your hotel or Airbnb on the lake.

🎒 What to Bring?

  • ID (passport or national ID).
  • Light luggage: up to 10 kg per person.
  • Sunglasses and a camera: the view of the lake from above is the best part of the trip.

  • Maximum weight: 450 kg in all. That is 6 passengers of up to 75 kg with no luggage, or 5 of up to 80 kg with 10 kg of luggage each.
  • Shared flight: it goes once 4 seats are taken. If it does not fill, we offer you another time or date, or to make it private.
  • Request it at least 48 hours ahead; it is confirmed with the weather and the aircraft's availability.

  • *This is a late post - my friend and I went in August of 2025. The Guatape River and Waterfalls tour was the best excursion of my LIFE! Honestly, one of my favorite days I’ve ever had. Camilo brought my friend and me to a quiet and secluded area of a river outside Guatape, where there was a beautiful blue green swimming hole under a waterfall. As my friend and I started exploring the river, he set up a gorgeous brunch for us - sandwiches from a local shop, coffee, mimosas. He also set up chairs, mats to lay on in the sun, an umbrella, and binoculars for birdwatching. It was PARADISE. He told us he’d take some pictures of us enjoying the river so we wouldn’t have to worry about capturing the moment. she told us he’d be back in a few hours, and when he returned, he asked if we’d like to stay longer or wanted to go. We happily stayed. If I lived there, I would go there every day. Thank you Camilo!!

  • We had an excellent experience with Guatape Tours! We booked a sprinter van with them for 12 of us, which was super clean, very comfortable and with air conditioning, to go from Medellin to Guatape and back later that same day. Our driver Christian was wonderful. He was on time, knowledgeable about the area and activities and very friendly. He drove us to hike La Piedra del Penol and then recommended an excellent place for lunch afterwards which he took us too. Afterwards he dropped us off near the malecón to walk and tour the town. It was a great day trip and I appreciated Guatape Tours checking in with me throughout the day and even before to make sure that everything was going smoothly. I highly recommend booking any trip with them!

Is the price per person or per aircraft?

Both: the private seaplane has one price for the whole aircraft, for up to 6 passengers, and on a shared flight you pay only your seat.

How does the shared flight work?

You ask for the seats you need on a date and time. The flight goes once 4 seats are taken, and we let you know when it is confirmed. If it does not fill, we offer you another time or date, or to make it private.

Can I book just for myself?

Yes. On a shared flight you pay your seat; if you would rather not wait for it to fill, you can take the private seaplane.

Where does it land in Guatapé?

On the lake, at the Luxe / The Brown dock. From there a boat can take you to your hotel or to town.

What times does it fly?

From Medellín to Guatapé at 7:00 or 8:00 am, and from Guatapé to Medellín at 7:30 or 8:30 am.

How much luggage can I bring?

Up to 10 kg per person, as long as the whole flight stays under 450 kg. That is why we ask for each passenger's approximate weight when you request it.

What if the weather does not allow flying?

The seaplane flies in good weather. If the airline cannot fly, we offer you another date or time, or refund you.

How far ahead should I request it?

At least 48 hours before the flight.
